A New Law in Texas to Fight Harassment on the Web

A new law recently passed in Texas will enable police in cases of online harassments to press charges in the county where the victim resides even if the crime’s origin is in a different county or even a different state. This law will be effective starting this fall.

In the our postmodern world, this kind of law becomes a must. Crimes are no longer restricted to specific locations and they can be committed from afar. Texas is adapting to a new reality.

This new law makes enforcement a lot easier as it will not obligate law enforcement agencies to try and apprehend the offender only where he actually committed the crime. The Internet has no geographical borders and law enforcement will have neither.
Advocates of the new law are convinced it will significantly help police fight online offences and will deter potential new offenders.
